That's what I'm doing.. DUB-LCY-JFK-MIA-LHR-DUB.

And as blueboys999 said, the daily AA56/57 rotation is on a 77W, the other (AA38/39 iirc) is normally a 772 but is subbed for a 763 at times over the winter to allow the 772's to go for refurb.

I wonder how much business dutch_122 pulls in for BA. I am beginning to think he's a plant.

Tier point runs - is there a better solution?

As an avid follower of this forum I have made several TPR's over the years - The last, involved 18 flights in a week for 2380 points. over 90 hours in the air, 42K miles flown and several weeks to recover afterwards.

So here's the question - If you were given the choice, what would you be prepared to pay per point rather than flying ?

I'm trying to make a case to present to a OW airline to avoid having to give up more of my valuable my holiday time in future.

To assist me with this I need to know by PM (as I don't want to clog the forum) what you might be prepared to pay for

100 Points
250 Points
500 Points

Please factor in related expenses and personal time saved as this will help make the case.

Thanks in advance

Frequently asked, and frequently answered: In summary, no chance with BA (as you're thinking about BA TPs).

I wouldnt pay anything, I think TP should be for actual bum on seat flying only, otherwise it wouldnt be a frequent flyer programme

(I suspect the answer is yes if within same fortnight, but on here...)
I think I must be crazy too because that actually looks like an interesting trip !

Trouble is, I would need to go in March 2015, not May, as I will be between assignments for 2-3 weeks around then. Sadly, I'm not finding anything under £4k at that time of year :-(

If anyone can point me at dates in March that come in more reasonably-priced, then I might well be tempted :-)

In principle I agree with that but the way BAEC operate their programme means that it's more about strategic exploitation than 'frequent' or 'BIS' flying. No better evidence for that than this thread where only in the past few days it's been demonstrated that for a few days flying and a relatively modest financial outlay Gold status is fairly painlessly achieved. Similarly, even higher status can be acheived by what might be called 'binge' flying 2 or 3 times a qualifying year. It's also somewhat ironic that the high earning TP opportunities posted are predominantly related to flying with other carriers.

Long may that continue for me but I certainly wouldn't call myself a BA 'Frequent Flyer' based upon the number of times and the distances I fly with them.

Is this really because of the BAEC scheme as a whole, or because these TP runs exploit one specific anomaly in the scheme? Don't most of them depend on the "long-haul" partner TP earn being achievable with a US domestic flight, which is conceptually more short-haul (or mid-haul) than long-haul, and which therefore tends to be priced accordingly? If a single change were made, by moving the partner break point from 2000 miles to (say) 3000 miles, how many viable cheap TP runs would be left?

BA Tier Point runs | 2014 master thread

A (personal point of view) plea - could we keep the "value of TP", "how much would you pay" to a separate existing or new thread?

Plenty of discussion on this already. Really interesting topic and I shall certainly partake in discussion but it does "clog up" and divert attention in here especially as these sort of questions can easily "take off" and lead to hundreds of posts.

Just my personal view.

All good points taken there.

My post was specifically referring to the concept of 'frequent flying' and the fact that. at least in part, BAEC is actually a revenue based programme due to the signficantly enhanced ability to qualify for status by purchasing premium fares.

I agree that the TP return from premium US domestic travel is largely an anomaly and may eventually be enhanced to a point where qualification will become more demanding.
