What's a 74I seatmap?

Seatmap for BA285 on 5 MAR (LHR-SFO) is for a "74I". It's a new seatmap for me; I've only seen 74A, 47A and 74C.

Anyone knows more? It's authorized for 14/52/36/235, so in that respect is identical to the 74C, but why a new "74I" code?

Are these config codes not for the purpose of crew? There may be subtle differences with crew facilities which we as passengers won't see.

I have never seen 74I before...

We have:

74D - Hi-J
74H - Hi-J
74V - Mid-J

- for the purposes of our roster. There may be more codes in terms of operations and FICO, but I am not aware of those.

Why would 6501 even want to dream? I see at least half a dozen -8s a day, and they have lost all their elegance, their beauty, their maiden of the skies feel. Just a big stretched aircraft with a lump. 744 any day please.

So the -8s have lost a bit of magic then. I have not seen one up close so I cannot comment, but it does not seem to have set the industry alight yet. I wonder if it is just the wrong size/ performance for today's operations.

Out of interest, what is the difference between 74D and 74H BBB?

What's a 74I seatmap?

One will be the 177 Y and the other the 185 Y seat variants.

How confusing. Incidentally, the first three are the seat map codes from the GDS (and therefore ExpertFlyer), which appear 3 days prior to departure -- wouldn't it make sense that they'd be the same for the crew? Oh well...

The hypothesis makes sense, but I have evidence that the GDS seat map codes didn't change with the F upgrade.

What is the difference between a High J, High J Lite and Light High J Lite?

Never ran across any of the other seat map configs on GDS other than the above mentioned three (now 4 with the 74I). What's the purpose of keeping them separate?
