Skateboarding at T5!

I am off to DOH again today and am sitting in the lounge at T5B. The aircraft looks like it will be G-VIIL, embodied with NF and, I hope, AVOD.

On the way through T5A I encountered a gentleman skateboarding through the terminal!

He was not going too fast but he did knock me with his bag.

Anybody else seen anything like this!

You should claim AVIOS from him

I have seen children with the roller shoes at LHR. Always wanted a pair

I remember an airport, I think it was Bratislava or Prague I saw cleaners and some other staff had rollerblades on. For sure accident to happen if it gets busy.

T5 is a big place, the paramedics use bicycles to get to their job quickly.

There was a video doing the rounds not so long ago created by two students who got bored with an overnight layover at a US terminal.

I think it's Copenhagen where I have seen staff cycle through the terminal on bikes. And, unless I am dreaming, I have a vague memory of police using Segways at one airport. Can anyone else confirm this?

I can't work out whether the OP is annoyed or jealous.

We're fairly sure we've seen Segways in use at IAD at the A/B Gates.

I've seen some airport staff members using Segways at some airports too, although I do not think they were police. I just cannot remember where, however.

I have also seen those on roller blades but not on a skateboard yet.

In HEL, Finavia staff get around the non-Schengen part of the terminal on push scooters. They can reach rather terrifying speeds when the terminal is empty; I've nearly collided with one or two coming off AY938 or BA798.

You should've commandeered the nearest Trunki you could find and run him off the road.

I saw a guy using one of these in T5 a couple of months ago...

Samsonite Micro Scooter Case

I gave chase to try to capture the moment for posterity, as I'd only seen it advertised in a Lufthansa in-flight magazine before and thought it was a spoof, but I couldn't get my phone out in time!

I've definitely seen police / security staff on Segways at a couple of US airports, possibly Chicago and Dallas.

BKK also use Segways.

Quite a few European airports use bikes in some way or form.

I've observed airline staff using bicycles at Zurich. Segways at multiple airports, but I don't remember which (you see a lot of police and security staff using Segways at shopping malls, my most recent being at the Boca Raton Town Center- given their linear layouts, using Segways at malls makes sense),
