I read this thread (but not the 990+ post general one) and didn't see anybody try to reverse engineer the chart. So, here's my attempt. My general assumption is that zones are based on flight distance from LHR. (Thanks gcmap.com!) There are a couple of small exceptions, noted below. Also, there aren't enough cities in Zones 8 and 9 to find the cutoff. There might be a separate zone for 8000 - 9999 miles or something like that.
Mileages listed are one way in economy. Return flights are double. Upgrades are supposedly 0.5 the list. Premium economy has a 1.5 multiplier, business 2.0, and first 3.0, like the current system.
Zone 1, 4.5K miles: 0 - 699 miles (Milan 607 miles)
Zone 2, 7.5K: 700 - 1249 miles (Barcelona 713)
Zone 3, 10K: 1250 - 1999* miles (Sofia 1271, Paphos 1982)
Zone 4, 12.5K: 2000 - 2999 miles (Cairo 2197, Abuja 2959)
Zone 5, 20K: 3000 - 3999 miles (Riyadh 3073, Chicago 3953)
Zone 6, 25K: 4000 - 5499* miles (Atlanta 4210, Los Angeles 5456)
Zone 7, 30K: 5500 - 6499 miles (Shanghai 5755, Mauritius 6068)
Zone 8, 35K: 6500 - 7999 miles (Singapore 6765, Buenos Aires 6904)
Zone 9, 50K: 8000+ miles (Sydney 10573)
*Zone 3 Exception: Paphos LHR-PFO is 2002 miles. BUT the flight actually is LGW-PFO, 1982 miles.
*Zone 6/7 Exceptions: Mexico City in Zone 6 is 5541 miles, so that's sort of awkward. Cape Town is 5994 miles, longer than Shanghai and Tokyo, but is still in Zone 6.
Does this make sense? I'm planning assuming that this is the new ANA-style distance based chart per sector.

So it looks like I'm confirming someone else's work. Nothing wrong with that.

Hey Gurus - My first post here. I plan on taking a vacation in the near future and need to determine how may Avios points would be required for a JFK-DXB flight in F once the change takes place? Currently F runs at about 120K miles to DXB. Your insight would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to FT nate79!
It should be the same, if BA does indeed switch to sector-based pricing. From the chart, NYC-LHR is 60k and LHR-DXB is the same. So 120k in F (each way) as before.
General connections through Europe were a little less that the separate legs ex-LHR. This saving has been lost but cancelled out by the reduction in LHR-NYC.

LHR-LCA is the exception - 2040 miles according to gcmapper, 2024 according to BAEC.
LHR is the exception, both for earning, and for redemptions.

Hi all
> wholly domestic connections will be included in the price of the connecting flight
> as a result of sectorised pricing, open jaws are permitted across zones
> Amex companion vouchers can continue to be used in the same way and will also be eligible for Reward Flight Saver
> Rewards will continue to be flexible ie date and time changes as well as cancellations) for a fee (Gold members will be exempt)

You say that open jaws will be permitted across zones, and that Amex 2-4-1 will be continue to be usable in the same way. Can I take it then that a 2-4-1 will be usable on an open jaw across zones ?
With regard to the other bit I quoted, I am based in Northern Ireland, you partner with aerlingus out of belfast as a connecting flight in LHR. I assume it would be too much to assume this is lncluded in your "wholly domestic connections" line above as its a partner ?
Also, any idea what the charging structure will be on aerlingus connecting out of dublin.
And I assume 2-4-1 will remain strict BA metal (i.e. no aerlingus connections)

I am rather curious about this as well, as I believe this is the only domestic route not served by BA but served by a partner. I thought I saw that "domestic connections" were only free with BA (within UK) or IB (within Spain) metal, but perhaps they hadn't considered this flight?

Ok, maybe I'm too sleepy, but I checked this thread for links to the new pricing table for BA and IB awards, and all I see is a partial list of awards from the UK. Is that still all we have at this time?

Haven't visited this thread for a long time....
Just a quick yes or no please for any new information about the upcoming November changes.........is the award chart staying the same for west coast to South America? Is the award chart staying at 25k for domestic travel on economy?
thanks in advance
