An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

getting offered £94 for LHR to FCO in late November. Been available for two weeks now in MMB. Not taken, seems a lot.

I've previously taken at least 8 POUGs this year, ranging from £64 (Stavanger) to £189 (Hong Kong). The most normal price seems to be £79 or £89, I've never seen £94 before. Is there any truth to heavy POUG users paying more, or not getting offered at all? 8 flights equates to about 22% of all BA metal flights I've taken, but closer to 50% of flights where I booked in ET/WT in the first instance. I.e. Where I've been able to, which excludes all domestic routes and where I was in CE anyway, I've POUG'd half my flights.

I have substantial flights booked and have taken some POUGs, but not that many. But I too have noticed the increase in them. I think they will rise with inflation as it's pure profit to BA. I noticed Lisbon at £99 next April on one of my bookings (which I thought was a lot).

Sorry to be pedantic but if you're suggesting that the entire extra cash collected drops through to the bottom line then that's not the case as the airline will incur some (albeit relatively low) additional costs.

LHR-RTM

For an upcoming flight on Sunday:
LHR-RTM - being offered 99 GBP

Later in December, for both LHR-RTM-LHR - 88 GBP offered/sector.

Few weeks ago, it was just 59 GBP. (will the price go down in time? Need 1 more segment to upgrade to get the 40TP)

Cheers!

Just out of interest, was that booked as one ticket OSL-LHR-SFO or separate sectors?

I STILL have never been offered a POUG on any of my 100's of BA flights, because (I presume) they start or finish in GLA

So interested if they are offered on sector not beginning at LHR/LGW.

They stated it was OSL-LHR return, not OSL-LHR-SFO. POUG's are only offered prior to OLCI for one way or return flights. If you have a domestic connection or open jaw they will not be offered.

They are shown in MMB as a 'Special Offer'. If your ticket was issued by a TA or another airline then you won't be offered a POUG until OLCI.
