Are BMI's Astraeus flights any good in Business?

I was just looking to book a flight to TLV, leaving next week, and thought I might give BMI a try to see what they are like in Business class on the route.

I am a little concerned though that the flight back is not operated by BMI, but by Astraeus.
Does this mean it is not a BMI crew actually flying the plane? and what about the cabin crew?

I did see in another thread that the Astraeus aircrafts are being re fitted but has this already been done, or am I going to end up in some very average business class cabin?

Thanks for any information on this.

I too have a flight booked on one of these 757's on the TLV route in June.
I would also be interested in any recent updates.
As I have said before, I will be extremely p*** off if I end up paying for Business class and get an Astraeus product.

Thanks AIRBUS215.
So if I am traveling next week on a 757 it would already be configured to the BMI product?

The 757s will have been reconfigured before entering service for BD. If you happen to take them in the next few days I and I'm sure other Flyertalkers would appreciate cabin photos, if you get the chance.

If you don't have a online photo sharing account, you can email it to me if you like and I'll upload it. PM me if interested.

How do we think that this will compete with what BA offer on the TLV run??
Are BMI much cheaper? Whilst I would probably prefer a decent seat than a bed on a day run on a sector of around 5Hrs I would be interested to hear others exp's before I commit; any extra availability to TLV is good tho, IMHO...

Sorry to bump the thread but I was looking into flying LHR - ALA (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and the flight is also operated by Astreaus (guessing 757). Was wondering if I can use my BMI Gold upgrade vouchers for those flights to go from Eco to Biz or does this work only on BMI owned metal? Thanks.

Yes, you can use a GUV on the Astraeus-operated flights. FAQ updated accordingly.
