BAA Worldpoints - HEX / GEX Upgrade offer withdrawn
Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in but ..
HAve just had email from BAA saying that the offer of redeeming points to have either a free upgrade to first class or half price express class travel has been withdrawn because they have realised that the codes have been used fraudulently. i.e. their IT system allowed codes to be used for multiple purchases rather than the single offer as intended.
As I use the HEX several times a week, gaining the 50 worldpoints from duty free shopping for the discount, this is a significant.

I wonder why they don't simply go back to the old system - sending out vouchers? Stopping it altogether seems a bit drastic. Quite naive though that they hadn't anticipated this minor issue...

I just got the World point credit card - (even though it is not promoted - it still exists) and it provides upgrade by simply presenting it to the ticket checker.
OT - when you get the card, there is no point collection information enclosed, so it feels as if it may not last forever either.
