Avis First but not on the Preferred board but did get email
The last two times I rented I had a similar experience. I walk in and my name is not up in lights on the preferred board.
The first time I was worried that I somehow had messed up my reservation. I go to the preferred counter and said "your good, go to spot X75". Didn't like the car, Impala and worked out something else. I notice later that I had an email directing me to a different spot. I can't remember the type of car listed in the email. This was in FLL.
In DFW, similar: no name on board. go to preferred counter. Again they wanted to give me an Impala. I said no thank you and we settled on a car. When I check my email, it had given me a spot number and specified that I had a Volvo S60. I would have loved to try that out.
Why didn't the counter have me listed for that? Or did they and think they could get me into the Impala. But even than, the Volvo NEVER came into the discussion.
Thoughts?
I know I am going to be checking my email on my phone as soon as I get off the plane from now on.
