Vietnam Airports reduced flights April-June 2015

If you're flying domestically here in Vietnam in the next few months, just keep an eye out on your flights. Take it for what you will as media is not necessarily accurate here.

Read a brief report in the English language news here in Saigon. Mentions that "a number of Vietnamese airports, including Saigon" will have some repair work done from April 10 to June 25.

But the kicker is it says Saigon in particular "will see around 80 flights cut and 10,000 passengers unable to fly each day due to the maintenance."

80 flights a day and 10k pax seems like a lot to me if that is accurate. I don't find any more details than that, but see the same report many places if you google it. But I would assume the budget airlines and the domestic flights will see the vast majority of the cutbacks, if not all. Hopefully refunds/transfers go smoothly for those holding tickets.

Anyway just keep an eye out on your flights if you have reservations during that time.

According to today's news, the repair is rescheduled to the period from 10-May to 25-July 2015 to avoid the big holiday travel period around 30-Apr.

Yeah it appears this is in the "propose it and see if important people complain about it" phase. First proposal included the big holiday, so it was shot down. Now they'll try later and see if that one sticks. Lots of "if"'s in this one. I just think it is worth keeping an eye on domestic reservations if you have one.

Unlikely. I would think that if this does happen, Vietjet Air and Vietnam Airlines domestic flights would bear the brunt of it. But at this point it's still uncertain if it will even happen.

Hmmm. I fly into HAN on Thursday and planned to work my way south over 2 weeks. I''m wondering how reliable those flights will be now.

I flew into SGN today and no problems seemed evident. Not a lot of delays on the boards. Unless they cancelled ahead of time and weren't even on the boards.
