How to get pesos at the Buquebus terminal in BA?

I'm going to arrive in Buenos Aires from Montevideo by ferry in a couple of weeks. Are there ATMs or exchange kiosks at the Buquebus terminal in Buenos Aires? I need only enough pesos to take a taxi to a downtown hotel. So, I don't care too much about the exchange rate. Is it possible to get Argentinian pesos in Uruguay, perhaps in Colonia or Punta del Este? I'm talking about exchanging 10-20 US dollars.

The BA Buquebus terminal does have an exchange operation, Colonia did as well. I do not recall seeing ATMs in the BA terminal though.

Keep in mind that you might be able to negotiate a better rate with the taxi driver should you pay in USD.

Thanks. I do care about the exchange rates But I'm not ready to walk to Florida St or a Xoom office with my suitcase.

I have never met a taxi driver in Buenos Aires who doesn't take dollar bills. Not much negotiating either to get them to accept at close to the blue rate.

If you don't care about exchange rates, then any ATM machine will give you what you need. Else, you can pay the Taxi in Dollars, just make sure you clear this with the driver before the start of the ride.

A 100 AR$ ride will be 10 u$s, just add 3 dollars and they will more than happy to accept it.

Is the 3 additional dollars a tip?
If not, then this is worse than the official rate...

Is not a tip but the tax driver may see it as a tip

Official rate 1 dollar = 8 AR$ (1:8)

100 ARS=12.50 USD at the official rate

taking money from the ATM machine will be the official rate (1:8) + 2~5 USD ATM FEE (from your bank) + 1~3% Foreign transaction fee.

My card has no FX fee
Many bank accounts in the USA and UK have no ATM fee.

I don't know about UK, but "most" of the bank in the USA have a fee

http://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/banki...onal-atm-fees/

of course, some accounts on those banks, like Citi Gold (which is the one that I have) don't have a fee.
