Premier Gold "Pay Over Time" 10,000 MR offer

I received an email for what appears to be a "Pay Over Time" offer with a bonus of 10,000 MR points to sign up before 12/31/15. The offer is just for enrolling, no usage needed AFAICT.

I have so far ignored the Pay Over Time option, but for 10,000 points and no other fees (that I can see), it seems worthwhile.

Has anyone else taken this offer? What are the downsides, if any?

I've taken it on Biz Gold and Biz Platinum at different times. Easy 10k, no catch.

I just got offered this for 10k MR if I sign up. While enticing since I always pay in full without issue on all my cards, I have read in this thread that there are concerns especially regarding FR. Is there any real concerns or is it more postulating downsides.

Thanks.

I just got a letter that said Amex would be adding this to my account in a month or two unless I called to decline it. No offer of MR points. Strange that some people get 10,000 MR to add it while it's essentially imposed on others.

Haha. I'm planning to.

I wonder what triggers the 10,000 MR offer vs. the "you're going to get it" letter. I assume it's one's spending pattern, but who knows.

do you have an ad blocker program, if so try deactivating for that URL, it may be blocking it.

If I may ask, how long have you had the card for? I've had BGR and Biz Plat since January and have the option to setup pay over time, but no offer for bonus points -- wondering if there's any sort of pattern as to when they target you for the offer.

Invited to enroll in the Extended Payment Option

Got an email today "You are invited to enroll in the Extended Payment Option, which gives you the flexibility to carry a balance or pay in full each month. " I usually pay off all my credit card each month. Is there any drawbacks for enrolling in this program for the 10k pts? The main thing I can think of is a credit check (minor ding to my credit score) right?

Enjoy Added Flexibility with the Extended Payment Option and receive 10,000 Membership Rewards Points upon enrollment when you enroll by 09/04/2016

Experience the convenience of payment flexibility
Whether you're planning your next vacation, buying a flat screen TV, or paying for something unexpected, once enrolled, youll have the flexibility to pay eligible charges of $100 or more1 over time with interest.
The choice is always yours
Eligible charges will automatically be transferred to your Pay Over Time balance. Each month, you simply choose whether to continue to pay your balance in full, pay the minimum amount due, or pay anything in between.
No enrollment fee
There is no fee to enroll and you won't be charged interest if you continue to pay your balance in full each month, by your payment due date.
1A charge is eligible to be paid over time if it is equal to or more than $100 and is approved by us. The following types of charges are ineligible for a Pay Over Time feature: Cash and Express Cash, American Express Travelers Cheques and other cash equivalents, casinos and other gambling transactions, any fees owed to American Express except foreign transaction fees, and other transactions designated by us. We will not place any charge into a Pay Over Time balance if it causes your Pay Over Time balance to go over your Pay Over Time Limit, as previously disclosed. You must pay in full all charges that are not placed into a Pay Over Time balance upon receipt of your billing statement.

I got the same email today for my Platinum card. Couldn't click enroll fast enough, it's the easiest 10k MR you'll legitimately earn without getting a new card. I got the same offer 2-3 years ago when I had my PRG.
