JFK > LAX Announcement: No Power in Cabin (prior to takeoff)

Just boarded. Told we have no cabin power. So no IFE, usb charging and no reclining seats in Biz or First. People are quite upset. Some have decided to deplane.

I’ll “tough” it out in paid J sitting straight up for 6 hours.

Kindly asked FA if she’ll use the compensation app. She said as an EXP might have better luck calling in? True or just trying to avoid me?

Note: Y also does not have any power, but obviously I’m not as concerned with them and their seats, which will recline.

Upgrades

Interesting.

Some people in F deplaned and the FA’s upgraded a few people from Y to F. Not J, which was full. Maybe it was easier that way as we were about to pull away from the gate.

The app has set compensation based on the issue, flight length and status. I would indeed reach out to Customer Relations for this one. You’ll probably come out on top.

Can't they manually recline the seats in J and F?

Huh

It wasn’t until halfway the FA came through and offered. It seemed to work. They handled it well.

Oh well.

AA is down a 321T after the wing strike at JFK earlier this year. N114NN has not flown since April and I heard may be written off. That the wing literally deflected horizontally backward.

That's strange. Wouldn't power be needed for lights and lav operations?

Strange.

Yes hot food. Yes lights in lavs. And yes lights in cabins.

But no seat power to IFE, USB or seats.

Odd.

I wanted to to get home but some people bailed.
