However, to be nice to this "catering manager" I will tell you that the wasabi ginger salad dressing on the DFW-NRT flight is the best salad dressing I have ever had. If anyone knows where I can buy it or how to make it please let me know. I dream about it.
Far from a catering manager, I just find hyperbole such as this amusing. You'll note that I didn't defend the meal, as a catering manager might do...just the expectations.

Cheers.

+1 - Champagne on a routine domestic flight. Haven't seen this in 10+ years.

There is absolutely no way to have the champagne if you are not running Transcon - BOS/JFK/MIA-LAX/SFO. Sometimes, not even heading to MIA could give you champagne. Sometimes, ORD-LAX dinner has it, but it's very rare.

Nor SDF-MIA. That's 911 miles I'll be flying by some other means.

If that's the case, then you have lived a very charmed life!

Be thankful for it.

Me thinks the OP had a long day and is tired and cranky.....or he has unrealistic expectations.

I think you answered your own question regarding the club and "regular" domestic F.

The salmon OP speaks of is actually delicious (I've had it many times)

It's one thing that a first time flyer expects to be served sparkling wine and given an elaborate descriptions of the meals in short haul domestic first, it's another for an "EXP" to expect the same.

Yes, it was an incredibly long day, and as I've stated, I know what airplane food tastes like. This was NOT fit for consumption. The picture of that salmon looks nothing like what I was served.

Additionally, on flights to MIA, which I take regularly, I am served champagne. In fact, when talking to an Aairpass representative TODAY, he brought up that American serves champagne on domestic flights. I had a mimosa last week flying back to LGA from MIA. This is not my first rodeo.

Expectations too high? Maybe. But the expectation of being able to consume any portion of the meal is not unreasonable. After I posted, my seat mate even commented on how bad the meal was, and he regularly flies the PHL-MIA route. I do not, which is why I brought it up.

I'll give you one of my ex-girlfriend's phone number. After some of her "cooking" your AA meal will seem really tasty.
