Honolulu to Los Angeles (AA 270)
Brunch Service

I noted the Hawaii menus are using a new font (same overall format, just a different font). Also, the "dessert" cookies were actually served mid-flight (appropriate) with milk instead of immediately following the breakfast service.

ALOHA
Thank you for choosing American Airlines. It is our pleasure to serve you today. We invite you to experience menu items developed in collaboration with Chef Sam Choy.

BRUNCH

Main Course:

Hawaiian French Toast (with seasonal fruit appetizer)
Macadamia nut French toast stuffed with marscarpone chees, with pineapple papaya marmalade and grilled Portuguese sausage (a signature Sam Choy item)

or

Cereal and Fruit
Served with a banana and seasonal berries

The above entrees include your choice of freshly baked biscuit or orange cranberry bread

Dessert:
Freshly baked on board white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies

PRIOR TO ARRIVAL

Tropical mixed nuts

ATL-DFW Lunch

1/23/12
ATL-DFW Flight 1389
Lunch

<off-topic discussion removed by moderator>

Lunch:

Warm nuts to start

Cheese Enchilada with black beans and rice, served with a side salad and pita chips/hummus

Chicken Cobb salad with pepper cream dressing and pita chips/hummus

Baked on board sugar cookies for dessert

Outside of the fact that the F/A took almost 30 minutes to get started the service was OK.

The topping is very cereal-like, but it is a a bit different. I hated the stuff for years, but I must admit, it's starting to grow on me now.

Lunch

Choice of cheeseburger or the awful chicken fajita salad. Cheeseburger was pretty good especially without the bun, but not as good as DL burger.

Dinner

Completing the AA domestic meal trifecta today, dinner was the usual stuffed pasta shells or chicken. Tonight's chicken was excellent... herbed "chicken with yams" and snap peas in a beurre blanc type sauce. Shrimp cocktail, nice salad and choice of pre-made sundae or cheese plate.

Interesting... Did they change the font 1/1? Here's a 2010 menu:

They were still using the same font in December of 2011 on LAX-HNL:

and HNL-ORD on 12/23/2011:

PS - Pictures of the meals are included for those interested. Was planning on posting them in the 2011 thread, but that thread closed before I got everything scanned.

It seems AA has contracted new printers. Domestic/International menu card stock has changed, so it would make sense the Hawaii menus also were impacted in some manner.

DL raises the transcon meal bar

As a comparison, I just posted a report in the DL forum on yesterday's DL transcon meal. Simply amazing!

DAMN You weren't kidding when you said the DL food was good!
That food makes AA food look like food court food
And the others (UA/US) foods look like food kitchen food
