AAdvantage status match by other airlines (consolidated)

hey guys..

ive seen some older info about status match.

I was just able to get gold status from delta and from continental. Neither would match my platinum. Delta was easy, cont wanted copy of statement showing miles.

usair doesnt have status match and wants you to pay 200 for each level and its only good for 90 days. so to try out platinum its 600 for 90 days.

i havent heard back from united and nw.

=======================MODERATOR NOTE=========================
It's much more likely questions and concerns regarding other airlines' status matches
to AAdvantage elites should be asked / posted in the Forum pertaining to the particular
airline concerned, and not here in the American AAdvantage Forum.

Please consider this advice before adding another post to this thread; AA has no
control over whether another airline will match status.

Thank you for your consideration.

Seems to me I did get UAL to match AA PLT about 5 years ago, but eventually came back to AA on a PLT challenge. Good luck getting them to match today.

There must be threads on this somewhere in the forum with recent info.

I sent an email copy of my AA statement to United and rec'd comped status in about 4 hours.
It only lasts for a specific period (90 days). I only requested it b/c I thought I would have to fly to PVG on UA b/c of my employer's contract.

Are you planning on actually flying all these carriers, or just collecting cards? Collective FT wisdom in the past has been that status matches are one time events, so unless you're actually flying all these carriers you might want to wait until you need the status before asking for a match.

1. I'm not sure why you would want status on every airline.

2. AA Platinum = DL Gold. Platinum is the top tier on DL.

because i do fly enough and gives me a choice for when AA is too expensive. Like I just booked phx to lax and AA was 1300 for coach and usair was 500 which included booked first class on return. and its direct flight, AA takes me to dfw then back to lax.

Im not collecting status, Ive started a new business and need to fly a lot, I like the flexibility. Some places AA is just too expensive. Anyway, I want to thank the people who have helped me here. I used to pay for first class and it was getting expensive. Because Im very tall and have CMT and muscle disease and also blood clot problems that have cause me 2 heart attacks, i really need the extra room, so thanks again for helping me get platinum and now status on a few other airlines so I have a better chance at fc no matter where i am flying! Its very helpful to my wallet and health. Heck, even if I dont get FC I can get exit which is getting harder to get these days unless u have status.

**please move this to bigger thread.

Anyone recently try to get UA to match AA status?

If so, any luck?

I much prefer AA to UA personally, but out of ORD, there are some occasions where UA would be easier due to routing, direct flights.

AA is more reliable in my experience and definitely priced better, but on those few occasions, I wouldn't mind having some status with UA. Thanks.

I would think right now, they would maybe be interested in luring some customers if possible.

The question may get more responses in the UA forum.

Actually, looking at the time stamps it wasn't cross-posted until after DataPlumber made the suggestion, so guess you really can't fault the OP.

My company has a status match deal, but I suspect it might be a one time thing, so I plan to save it until I actually need or want to fly UA. I also don't know what UA will give me for EXP status.
