Leeway on 500 mile upgrade stickers
I'm a new AA Plat (via challenge). When US Airways used to use a similar 500 mile e-upgrade program, there was a 50 mile leeway on certificates (ie. TPA-CLT, which I recall being 507 miles, was only one sticker). TPA-ORD, for example is 1012 miles. Would this cost 2 500 mile stickers or 3? What is the official mileage leeway they allow, if any? Thanks for any help you can provide to a newbee.

I believe that it is a 50 mile leeway.
The worst is when you go just over it, ie. 3 stickers for 1070 miles!

I often fly STL-DFW-STL which is listed as 551 miles and it has always been one sticker. So 51 miles.

I wish the leway was per sticker. So, like 2 stickers gave you 100 in leeway. But that would mean that JFK-MIA would be 2, JFK-SJU 3, and JFK-SEA, 5

The PDF timetable distances have not been updated for a while. It shows 1560 for BOS-DFW, but I've been getting 1562 for a while. It's usually close enough for all practical purposes, but the example discussed above is one where a single mile makes a difference.

My vent about this -
Flew 2470 SNA-STL, 1570 miles, 4 upg. Less than a 5% leeway. Bummer.
I thought of offering to sit in F until the descent, and then move back to cattle-class, but figured that was not an option.

Exception to every rule
If you book a through flight, it goes off the origin and destination. Recently flew, AUS-DFW-MSY. It would have been (didn't use stickers) 2 stickers to get there, but only one to get back because I was booked on a through flight (#1973, MSY-AUS).
