Requesting a change to travel plan due to weather

Hi,

I am currently booked on VCE - LHR - JFK - LAX on 1/17. It was booked that way originally to generate the extra 500 miles as opposed to LHR - LAX non stop, probably not worth it in hindsight.

Now, I wish to avoid JFK, do you think I should be required to pay the change fee or should AA accommodate my request for no charge to avoid any potential cancelled flights.

Thanks!

It not a matter what I think, its what I know: unless they issue a weather waiver for the 17th, then be prepared to pay a change fee.

(At present, its forecast to be in the mid to upper 40s and sunny on 1/17, of course this far out, that could change).

That stop would never be worth it for a measly 500 miles IMO.

The 17th is two weeks away. No, AA won't change the routing two weeks out for potential weather issues. Connect in JFK in January, other than maybe to take advantage of a lower fare, just nuts.

There could be WX issues anywhere in the world that far out. Unless there's a weather waiver issued, OP will pay a change fee + fare difference (if any).

What if you were at 99500 EQM or 99 EQP and needed that segment to qualify for EXP on Dec 31?

OK, you got me there.

Let's just say it would never be worth it to me in January.
