Multi-Class Journey

Hi,

I founded an flight with Emirates from Trieste to Honk Hong via Rome and Dubai. I wanted to book flight in Business Class which is possible only there is an problem. Leg from Trieste to Rome is available only in Economy Class and is operated by Alitalia. I am wondering will Alitalia charge me extra for additional language for this flight. Because EK allowe me 32kg and AL just 23 kg. Will they Alitalia charge me extra 10kg of laguage? Secondly shoud I check-in at Economy Class counter or at Business Class counter? Because 2/3 of trip is in Business.

Kind regards and thanks for reply

The general industry wide rule is that baggage rules are dictated by the initial flight in a series of connections

NOT true. If it is all a single ticket, single PNR, you should receive full business class benefits at Trieste, business class luggage allowance, business class check-in. The ticket is a business class ticket, even if you are seated in economy on the first segment.

IF Alitalia charges you extra baggage fees (which they shouldn't, you should receive at least an Alitalia business class baggage allowance), and you check your bags all the way through to HKG, you will not be charged again separately by EK. Any fees you pay for baggage are for as far as your bags are tagged to.

I agree. I misread your post and thought you were flying business on the first leg so it would not be complicated. You SHOULD be able to convince them to check everything with no cost. But never any guarantee
