Pay for Business class upgrade now or there?

Have the opportunity to pay for a business class upgrade of my return leg of my AZ codeshare flight CDG-FCO-KUL-MEL
Ive been quoted $2500AUD for this through my travel agent. Pay it now or chance for a cheaper price when I check in (providing there is still availability at the gate?)

Only the first leg could be with AZ though

All your longhaul flights Are codeshare

2500 AUD wouold be approx. 1500€ or am I mistaken? Still it's far too much for a one-way, although I wouldn't even have thought it were possible on a codeshare. It sounds to me as if your agency is in fact proposing to buy a second Business class ticket from scratch.

Well... I guess if you really need a Business ticket then I would pay the 2500AUD now cos you're unlikely to get a chance for an upgrade on the day.
