A strange thing happened when I went to change my flight
On points. Had a flight too early, wanted the next one, too many points, so was going to settle for the one after that.
Went into my existing reservation to make the change, and the high-mileage flight I wanted said "0 additional miles, $0 additional". I thought hmmm, but clicked on it anyway.
Got the good flight I wanted for free!
Went back in as if to make a new reservation, and the "good" flight was still 20,000 pts (as opposed to the 5,000 I used).
Double checked the times, the dates...all OK. Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket today?
Edit: Title should read "went to change my FLIGHT" not seat

Sometimes I wonder if the as.com flight search engine doesn't always find the lowest fare bucket.
Many times I can find an A fare on Google Flights (which books through as.com) while Alaska can only show me the full F fare. I've seen similar for award searches occasionally.

Well, it looks like all flights for that day are now down to a sensible 5,000 miles each (this was just EUG/SEA) - maybe that 20,000 mile one was just a glitch all along?
