it was two hours but by the time i signed into twitter and saw the sale there were only 45 minutes remaining looking back at the AS twitter feed it seems there have been several flash sales in the last few weeks that i missed.

Any pattern to these? SO and I have been meaning to go to PDX for a day or two sometime in the fall. I was about to grab a Saturday day trip (7:00 AM xSFO, 9:25PM xPDX) but in the time it took me to confirm with her the fares disappeared. Broke the cardinal rule: book first, ask for permission later

Flyertalk!

That might not actually be a good idea, but...

I hate these ideas of quick sales. I have a job. I can't scan twitter all day waiting for one of these damn things.

Every time I see that I missed one, it makes me angry at AS. Doesn't matter what the routes were (which I generally can't see after the fact anyway).

So kudos to the jackass that came up with this idea! ^

I'm frustrated as well. It seems the communications distributions channels aren't working, as I signed up months ago for text alerts for exactly this thing (Flash Sales). Like you, I have no time at work to scan AS.com every day, all day, on the off-chance I'll catch one. However, the text alerts aren't working - never got one for this flash sale.

I also do not do Twitter nor tweet, and FB is also something I'm not glued to all day, so AS needs to realize that they need to broaden their distribution channels, unless they really don't want folks taking advantage of these flash sales. #Fail.

i think that it should be possible to set up an RSS feed to your inbox from AS twitter feed, so that you get their tweets but don't have to have a twitter account. the only reason that i caught this one is because i follow SEA-SMF on *gasp* airfare watchdog and they emailed me. i need to figure out how to set up this RSS feed and if i'm successful, i'll post about it.

My wild theory. This is a fare sale tactic intended to undercut the competition, particularly DL, while keeping it short enough to not give DL enough time to match the fares.

Pretty smart move on AS part, but yes I agree the communication channels should be better. Maybe offer customers the option to receive fast dash fare sale text message?

It's back until 1 Pacific! Highlights include SEA - TPA for $99. For Bay Area folk, SJC - PDX is $49. I didn't see this on Twitter, though?

Where do you see the sale fares, if not on Twitter?
