NZ5 remote stand
I flew back from LAX last night and had a remote stand for NZ5. I've flown this a few times and it's always been the same.
Just for reference can anybody confirm is this flight is always a remote stand? I'm assuming NZ don't see the point in paying for a gate and moving the plane after it's been parked up all afternoon.
If it is due to the walking involved it's clearly best avoided if you're impaired in any way.

Thanks.
On a side note I was surprised how many pax were AKL transit on the flight.
Bags took nearly 40 mins to get off the plane yesterday so everybody was standing around the carousel waiting. I'd pick no more than 120 or so people waiting - so if you allow a reasonable % that are carry on only that's still 100 - 150 people who are in transit.

Never had a remote stand (at LAX) for NZ5 in the past year, the most recent being last month (first weekend of June).
And as someone commented above, it was one of the closer gates from the lounge as well (148).

Clearly it's just been my luck that the ~3 or so times in the past couple of years when I've had this flight that it's been a remote stand every time.

Is that NZ's move or VA's??
NZ has some great deals to lure Aussies via AKL onto Nth and Sth America. I figure they want their business. But VA also has it's own flights to Nth America.
VA's changes are too hard to keep up with and just feel very hodge podge. I find them hard to love from a functional point of view.
