Do we know where in the delivery timetable the first NZ NEOs are? And where the A321s would fit?
NZ also needs to announce the breakdown of A320s and A321s
Then being a new type to NZ there is tests and route proving so the CAA to sign off on it. Just like they had to do for the 789. One example was the 789 was Ohaeka for a bit for some CAA stuff.

I'm think we could see them keep with the 13+5 combo, and replace OJR,OJQ,OJS,OAB with A321NEO's once the 240 seat version is released. They are all leased 2011 builds that don't have skarlets etc. AKL-WLG is pretty much maxed out in the AM/PM peaks you really wouldn't want to go more than every 30minutes.

Yeah I have only seen at least 3 out of the 13 being A321s. And that the NEOs are turning up this year but nothing re actual timings, delivery order, etc
Isn't AKL pretty much maxed out anyway at peak whatever the city pair? Does Akl have any plans for more domestics gates before terminal move in their long term plan?
As JQ nor NZ can really bring more planes into Akl as there isn't the gates for them. And then there is the Akl lounge.....

Also would the 240 seat A321NEO work with an all economy layout? As the deleting of door 2 and adding overwing exits is based on that the front part of the plane has less people because of business class etc. Would the extra leg room economy lower the passengers enough to keep the regulators happy?

So that version has 10 exits, where the standard version has 8. It was design to ULCC airlines hence no J Class.

The order of 13 with at least 3 A321s are a 1 for 1 replacement of the current international A320s. The upguage to A321 is to cover route growth as can't just add flights TT and to the islands.
The mention of 5 is linked which the earlier domestic ones (non SL) which if I understand correctly are leased. Which may be up for renewal?

Air New Zealand will lease five of its 14 new Airbus A320-series aircraft from Los Angeles leasing company Air Lease Corporation.
The first aircraft, an A321neo, is scheduled for delivery in August 2017 followed by an A320neo in September 2017.
The remaining three leased aircraft will be delivered in 2018.

Second delivery is an A320neo - September 2017
So I would expect to see them in revenue service by September/October the latest. And as mentioned above, they are for the International short-haul, replacing the current A320 Intl. fleet one-for-one.
Not sure what the ramp up/delivery target is afterwards.
