Ah, right thanks for that, Gypcat.

So we have AKL-SFO and no doubt more random Tasman sectors for the 744. I can't really see much logic in the Tasman sector scheduling - it's 744 one week then a 763 or 772 the next. Any ideas?

Hi there,

This seems the 744 Schedule (subject to change)

As per 01NOV13 GDS timetable/inventory display, Air New Zealand appears to have tentatively scheduled Final Boeing 747-400 operation on 10SEP14, Auckland – San Francisco route. Airline Route on 15OCT13 reported that this date would be the final long-haul 747 service, as the carrier displays additional 747 service to Brisbane after 10SEP14.

Based on latest schedule revision in the past 2 weeks, NZ has updated Trans-Tasman schedule, which sees last 747 service to Brisbane scheduled on 13JUL14. Planned 747-400 operation in Northern Summer 2014 season as follow.

Auckland – Brisbane
13JUL14 NZ135/136

Auckland – Nadi
22JUN14 – 29JUN14 Day 7 (NZ056/057)
05JUL14 – 12JUL14 Day 16 (NZ056/057)

Auckland – San Francisco
30MAR14 – 17JUN14 Day x13
18JUN14 – 30JUN14 Daily
02JUL14 – 16JUL14 Day x2
18JUL14 – 03SEP14 Day 357
08SEP14 – 10SEP14 Day 13

Planned FINAL Boeing 747-400 operation remains subject to change in the next few months

Sorry if this has already been posted.

Does anyone know the exact 747 retirement dates for ZK-SUH and
ZK-NBV?

I booked a flight back from SFO in Aug just for one final flight. I'm just hoping SUH doesn't go tech for any reason - I only booked Y so will have to buy powerful drugs and alcohol to survive 12 hours if it gets subbed with a 77W.

When she's scrapped and turned into Coke cans it'll be easy to spot them - they'll be the ones where tear tabs keep breaking

Thats of course if she even starts when they try to ferry her out of AKL.

Seems the 2 744s are just sitting ANZES most of the past week

I took SUH to SFO earlier this week. Apart from a APU breakdown which delayed us by 45 mins, it was in remarkably good order, although that's not saying much for NZ J. Had the famous Will Coxhead as Purser or whatever NZ calls them.

It left yesterday as an AKL-BNE-MFM charter, operating as NZ1944

SUH got scrapped midweek after it's final flight from SFO. It's looking rather sad parked up now near the 747 hanger.

I wonder if Air NZ could start a $1 no reserve auction on Trademe?
