Status match or best SkyTeam FFP?
Esteemed FlyerTalk Experts,
happy new year!
I am a UK-based frequent flyer, mostly economy class, currently holding
Lufthansa Silver and BA Silver (hard-earned) and Alitalia Freccia Alata (acquired through status match last year, valid through March 2017).
As I am about to lose my Alitalia SkyPriority status, and I have been using Aeroflot a lot recently (at least segment-wise, 12 segments in 3 months) to get to Eastern Europe (Azerbaijan and Georgia), I was wondering if (and what):
- there was any chance for another SkyTeam status match on the basis
of my current Alitalia/BA/LH status? Would BA Silver be enough to get SkyPriority with any SkyTeam airline?
- if status match not an option, I would like to choose a SkyTeam FFP
that would get me to SkyPriority as fast as possible, I noticed Aeroflot requires 50 segments and AF/KLM only 30, is there a catch or should I go for AF instead?
Thanks a lot for your patience and advice!

Don't know about the status match, but if you are to choose a FFP AF/KLM Flying Blue is definately the way to go.
Eeasy to achieve Gold status (30 segments) will give you Sky Priority and lounge access (you will already be getting certain benefits after getting 15 segments (Silver), priority check-in being the most significant one IMO), and being in the UK you should benefit from a decent number of connections no matter where you live as KLM alone serves 15 UK airports now if I remember correctly.

I'd go with FB in a heartbeat if those are the two options you're looking at.

Status matches within an alliance are very uncommon.
Status matches tend to be 1 level down. That is not matched to the same tier. High tier matched to mid tier.

Happy new year
As far as i know , the answer is NO
In your case , Flying blue (AF) could be a choice by default . As you will fly often with SU there are good points for you
Also there is Suma (UX) if you dont care about miles/awards or when FB will switch to revenue-base . But before you will need to check the charts , otherwise your SU flights may not qualify
You are welcome
I dont know about heydar aliyev (GYD) ,but i know that TAV operates the Rustaveli's airport in Tbilisi , so there ''maybe'' already a way to have fast track there
- Few subclasses of SU are not eligible for accrual in FB
- SU is more generous than AF about miles , a LHR-SVO-TBS will give you around 1.5k miles so you may collect enough miles to enjoy promo awards before reaching gold
- when flying with SU you still have skypriority even as a silver , so you will get the yellow tag for your luggages , but i dont think you will get access to fast track out of russia

I had a trip with them in august , as a FB silver when i received my BP i saw SP written on it .
At airport i received yellow tags , and during flight FA came to me and said ''Welcome Mr 52 , thanks for flying with us ......''
Dont know if it is normal or a bug however it was nice

Aerolíneas doesn't status match anymore, and Aerolíneas Plus usually doesn't earn miles in the lowest fares of Skyteam partners. I am based in Argentina, most of my flights are with AR and still I'm a FB Elite because it is much more generous/convenient than Aerolíneas Plus.
