Air France/KLM reduce cabin allowance for flights departing from US

On May 3, 2016, because of increased regulation of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), AF and KL reduce their cabin baggage allowance for flights departing from the USA, to one + accessory luggage only.

Customers traveling in First / First, Business and Premium Economy will register the second free cabin baggage (up to 18 kg).

KLM, at least, doesn't have a current exceptional allowance for US flights, and the limits mentioned above are those currently in force on all KL intercontinental flights....

From US it was 2 cabin luggages and 1 accessory on KL and AF for W, J and F customers...
US AF and KL websites are not yet modified.

Do you have a link to any website showing this change?

KL's current allowance (linked above) is already identical to what you say it will change to.

It's also AF's current published limit:

You surely don't mean that Economy passengers are currently allowed more than one carry-on and one accessory?

I think that what you are missing is that W, J and F will now be allowed only ONE bag plus accessory from US, while it is TWO bags plus accessory worldwide.

But the OP says these customers continue to get their second free bag:

Everything written above corresponds to the current situation. So what has changed?

Unless the OP intends "register" to mean "check-in". The word "register" does not have that meaning or connotation in English...but I guess that can only be what was intended.

You should translate better than me:

"Les clients qui voyagent en First/La Première, Business et Premium Economy pourront enregistrer gratuitement le second bagage cabine (jusqu'à 18 kg)."

checked is better than registered

Do you have a source?
It does not show up on AF website and we are a few days before May 3.

This is really bad news.
My trips to US are usually very short and only with hand luggage. One benefit of lying business is to have plenty of hand luggage allowance. and not having to check bags.

It probably means at check in you have to have the second carry on tagged to avoid any problems with the TSA. So even if you check in online you need to pass by one of the check in desks to get the bag tagged ("registered"). That's what I'm guessing.

As this is a TSA initiative then surely it must be because the TSA no longer wants to scan 2 bags for the same passenger?

I don't think a "tag" will be enough to placate them.

But at least now perhaps we will have TSA agents strictly enforcing carry-on limits!!

what is strange is that I can't find anything about this so called new TSA rules on the TSA website or just googling something like "change TSA rule carry-on"

Indeed. But it seems that American carriers already have this policy in place. BA does too.
