I believe that simultaneously KL are opening Edmonton. AF to YVR is good but I am worrying that in the past few years, most routes extensions have been about AF flying where KL already flies and vice-versa. Would be nice to have truly new destinations opened. For instance, the non stop North American network is still feeble compared to BA from LHR.

Per regional VP/GM, the route has exceeded expectations in 1st year of operations.

Hopefully this will soon lead to daily services during summer.

From what I heard, the loads were very poor in the winter and that seems a seasonal leisure destination with better loads in Summer.
It will get the old 772 except for the Wednesday flight with BEST (at least till June 22)

KLM is reducing YVR flights in 2016-17 winter to only 4x weekly
http://airlineroute.net/2016/05/03/kl-w16update3/
Down from 5x weekly from the previous winter and down from daily the winter before that.
Basically YVR will have 4x weekly from KL and 3x weekly from AF in the upcoming winter. With weaker demands during winter and the group operating both birds to this market, makes sense to split the operation between the two.
