Reserve a Seat Plus
You can reserve your Seat Plus when checking in online* or at the airport, using a Self-Service Kiosk (in metropolitan France) or the Air France counters in certain airports.

Please note: these seats are located next to the emergency exit doors and only a limited number are available. Remember to reserve your Seat Plus as soon as you purchase your ticket.
Rates
This service is available at the following rates:

€10 per seat and per flight if your flight’s duration is less than or equal to 1 hour and 30 minutes
€15 per seat and per flight if your flight’s duration is between 1 hour and 35 minutes and 2 hours and 30 minutes
€20 per seat and per flight if your flight’s duration is greater than 2 hours and 30 minutes

This service is free of charge for AIR FRANCE and KLM Flying Blue Gold and Platinum members if they provide their Flying Blue card number when purchasing their ticket.

In the case of a roundtrip flight, the Seat Plus rate is calculated based on the expected duration of the shortest flight, departing or return. If the expected duration of your departing flight is 1 hour and 40 minutes and your return flight is only 1 hour and 25 minutes, the Seat Plus rate will be €10 for your departing flight as well as your return flight.
Not available on A320 aircraft.

Those price points are very high in comparison to the current prices on most KLM routes.

Do AF and KL communicate at all?

That is a new low...

How can they use the word "advantage" when something that was free for all is now sold for most of travelers ?!?

Oh, I see now : that is a new benefit for us FB Gold and Platinum !

They also, as usual, add a complicated thing that will obvioulsy lead to IT bugs :

I no longer see the "advantage" of being FB Gold or Platinum - it means you are putting far too much business in Flying Blue's way - you would be better rewarded giving that business to someone else!!!

Am I missing something here ? It's not possible to pre-reserve a seat in Y on medium-haul flights ?

Maybe they plan to change that in the future ? There is a "reserve a seat plus" option on my coming NCE-PAR trip, which gives an error when clicked

Does that also mean that AF will introduce advance seating for short/medium haul?

It could just be that they allow you to pick from the limited number of paid seats if you're prepared to pay; anyone who doesn't want to pay can't pick a seat before OLCI.

Sort of like the way BA, EI and others do it.

Or it can simply be a copy & paste of the seat+ text for long-haul flights and they forgot to delete this sentence.

As an elite, you can pre-assign seats at time of booking on all BA domestic/European flights. And no charges for bulk seats. A big benefit.

Indeed; but everyone else either has to pay upfront, or wait until OLCI.
