Air Canada weighs direct Calgary-to-Asia flights

actually I hope they don't do this at all - it would take away traffic from YVR and cause a further reduction in routing

Not a fat chance. Opposite perhaps yes. Wasn't there a YEG-YYC-LHR at some point? While YYC-YEG-LHR would have been more like a direct route than to Asia.

Point may be that there is more high yield traffic from YYC than from YVR?

Not the best article written by ATW, a few obvious errors....such as....
a move hailed by the Vancouver Airport Authority and AC, which this winter launched service from YVR to Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.

However it talks about YYCAA and it's vision of Asia traffic.
