How many Aeroplan miles do you have? How do you plan using them heading into 2020?

Just wondering how many Aeroplan miles you have. How you got them and what you propose doing with them heading into 2020. I have just over 1.2 million miles balance today; 75% travel related (bookings and metal). I give travel to relatives but would really want to use points to travel off the beaten path, some outside *A routes. I don't care for Economy Class connections and open shoulders. I have a toaster. How many points do you have? How do you plan burning them before AC "enhances" rewards in 2020?

50079. As soon as I get to 25k, 50k or whatever-K that I like to use, I burn the points.

I will be especially vigilant now. 2020 worrys me about the re-integration of a frequent flyer program into AC. I am really considering setting up another Star Alliance plan and earning AC points on that.

...........open to any ideas about a good Star Alliance partner too.

I have 800K right now, which is slightly over a year's worth of earning. I'll redeem them all for J class flights, as I always do.

I'm shifting credit card earning away from Aeroplan already to cut my earn rate, mostly going to Amex MR. Will still convert those to Aeroplan if an opportunity to burn those quickly turns up.

But my goal is to have Aeroplan balance down as close to 0 as possible by June 30, 2020.

Ditto (except roughly two years worth of accumulation, and I'm planning on treating some friends to J for a milestone anniversary coming before June 30, 2020)

The Bride and I both have about 130,000. As soon as we have 160,000 each we're booking another mini-RTW; then we'll look for another program (like Smallest State above). Suggestions are welcome!

~92k. Probably burn em on TATL.

My toaster sucks. I can see myself picking one up before June 2020 if I end up with 20k or whatever points are required. Buying 5k for $150 to get a Y redemption may or may not be worth it...

This assumes AE still in business in 3 years. Or 3 months.

Oh Yee of little faith. Aimia closed at $1.58/share (+.09) today, clearly they're on the rebound. Now only down 80% since the announcement!

Approx. 350,000 +/- 20,000
Almost all earned on air travel with 250,000+ on AC metal, in J.
I have not been able to redeem because a reasonable opportunity has not been available on the two routes I travel. I don't see why I should spend almost $1500 and 150,000 when some segments are in Y.

As soon as I maintain my *A Gold status for this year, I will stop flying AC, wherever possible. I intend to redeem all my points in 2018. I will be shifting all my longhaul flights to Skyteam (KLM/AF) or One World (Cathay and Finnair) because neither Aeroplan nor Air Canada offers any value to me.

I haven't been doing much domestic flying this year and after several years, I finally have an opportunity to use an Air Canada menu coupon on a RapidAir flight I will take in a couple weeks. I purchased Tango. As it is, I am shifting my long haul Asian to EVA from Air Canada for the balance of the year as I already have met the metal and spend requirement for Gold.

If I see that I cannot use my miles I will donate to charity. I'd rather do that than watch AE/AC claw them back and laugh at me.

Do you really redeem that slowly? I burned 2M in the past ~18 months.

I recently (ie just before the AC/AP announcement) had just under 1M points.

I used 220K for 2 X J-class r/t to Europe.

I then used 640K for 4 X J-class r/t to SYD next march.

And used 30K for priority rewards from NYC-YOW for 4 people (we are getting there on non-priority rewards from someone elses account) for a long weekend in NYC in early Sept.

I am collecting a few more miles for 5 x Y-class to Montego Bay over Christmas (paid Y-class tickets are $1200 ea).

Mrs. Plumber (E50K) and two little-Plumbers (no status) all have about $70K each )...We just used 60K for 4x shorthaul for a quick trip to Myrtle Beach later in the summer.

We are using them up.
