First trip planning attempt YVR-FRA-DXB-MLE-YVR
I've been "lurking" for a couple of weeks - first post. I'm really getting into this at the wrong time, I need a week to study @:-) for an exam, but oh well LOL.
Can you let me know if I'm on the right runway? Planning for 1nt FRA/ 3 nts DXB/ 7-8nts MLE in early 2019, want to have a plan!
YVR-FRA-DXB-MLE-YVR (with segments between).
Under MPM for YVR-MLE. 300k AP, $901YQ, almost entirely J for wifey and I.
Good idea? ^

OP, welcome to FT!
Do you know how close you are to the MPM? As cow said, you may be able to save some YQ, although many of those options will require adding mileage.
But also be cognizant that reward seats don't stay on the market forever and that your time may be valuable, so if you like the itinerary and you're okay with paying the YQ, you may want to lock it down now.
If you do find a mostly YQ-free option later, you can always pay the change fee and get a refund of the taxes (although the new change fees may offset much of the savings).

I mean 2019 lol... using the 2018 dates as a guide to see what's possible. When flying for 2, and convincing a wifey it's worth our limited vacation days, ya can't just have your ducks in a row, they gotta be straight as an arrow lol!
That's kind of what I'm noticing! I'm 'ok' with Y for the last short leg to MLE though.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome to FT!

This is probably our only shot at DXB with kids on the horizon. I'm willing to sacrifice something to make it there. I've also seen DXB-COK-TRV-MLE with the last leg in Y.
