Shooting at FLL Airport T2 [AC Terminal]

This is the terminal that is used by Delta and Air Canada in FLL, very compact. Hope all AC travellers [well, everyone!] are ok:

"At least nine people were injured in a shooting at the Fort Lauderdale airport on Friday, a US official familiar with the incident said. The shooter is in custody, according to the official.

Parts of the airport were apparently evacuated. Aerial footage from CNN affiliates showed large groups of people standing outside on the tarmac."

ABC Affiliate (Channel 10) just noted that alleged shooter arrived on a 'Canadian' flight with a gun as checked baggage, loaded it in restroom in arrivals area, and then began shooting.

MSNBC Live said the shooter was a passenger on AC.

From usatoday.com:

Sen. Bill Nelson, a Florida Democrat, told MSNBC the initial gunman was identified as 26-year-old Esteban Santiago and was carrying a military ID. CBS News, quoting law enforcement sources, reported Santiago was born in New Jersey.

And

"Santiago is a 26-year-old U.S. citizen, born in New Jersey, Fox News reported.

A law enforcement source additionally told the outlet the suspect had a concealed carry permit and a Florida driver’s license."

------

Does anyone know if those AC flights have been able to unload pax? CBS local in FLL interviewed a couple who said they were waiting for their granddaughter who was sitting on the AC aircraft, communicating by phone with her saying they could not get to the gate.

Wouldn't be too quick on that shooter arrived on a Canadian plane apparently, unless it is Sunwing or Transat.
