Predicted # of SEs, now and in 2017?
The numbers have to be dropping like crazy.
I suspect on January 1st the numbers will be a fraction of their former leagues (actually status exists till end of Feb 2017).
As one who has maintained his loyalty as a SE through thick and thin.... and even increased it with the new AQD, I want to see just what the improvements will be. I will be a SE for the humteenth year next season.
I am expecting far more than sophisticated recorded voices as I wait on the phone, sodium laden soup in lounges and posh conceirge offices. For sure these are nice trimings!! Over the years AC has not treated its best customers very well and the airline knows it. Surely it is time for AC to think positively with its best customers and not wring the dead cat tighter with more "enhancements".

I think given the following factors:
1 - additional AQD requirement, which sets a higher qualification bar than the previous 50% AC metal requirement
2 - less corporate spend due to slowing economy
There will be less E's and SE's.
The biggest group impacted by 1 is the SE's. 2 likely impacts E's and SE's.
How many less? I can only hazard an uneducated guess of 15% less SE's.

I really don't know what you expect to get out of this given we've never really known anything about actual SE numbers for a long time.
This dead horse has been beaten over and over again. There will be fewer SEs. How many? Who knows. Cut off a chicken's head and let it scramble around a roulette table, multiply by 4, then subtract 13, or 7, or 25, or none.

Now: X SEs
2017: Y SEs
Y < X
Does Y = 0.8X? 0.9X? 0.6X? Who knows. As for benefit enhancements, who knows.
It's a mug's game trying to predict it at this point, I think.
Now, if we had a thread suggesting enhancements we'd like to see, assuming they're going to enhance the program given fewer SE/Es, that would be more worthwhile.

Is it just me, or isn't the fact that less people are (or will be) entitled to the same benefits an enhancement? I for one am already enjoying a better access to eUpgrades on TPAC routes as an SE, owing to the surcharge lower tier have to pay. Of course, that might just be a coincidence or impression... but J seems less always full than its been.
Shorter lines at the SE check-in counters, shorter lines during Zone 1 boarding...
It might be trivial, but it matters...

People who qualify as SE for 2017 - and I will be one - have thereby demonstrated their willingness to meet the requirements for next year given the SE program as it is today. I don't see what reasons AC would have to improve it at all.

I strongly believe they will not renege on their zonal boarding changes.

Multiple European and Asian carriers have programs that most likely have fewer top tier members due to even more rigorous qualification requirements and yet they still separate out zones like Air Canada does between their mid and top tier FFs.

Canada is more "socialist" then many European countries? Let's review income tax in France vs Canada, shall we?

Whatever the final tally is rest assured it just means a > numbers of beige and red tags clogging the MLLs and boarding areas.
All I desire for enhancements, if I had a choice, is seat blocking.

All I ask with my 20k spend is
Seat blocking
better IKK
eups at every 20k
Failing the eups, would be nice to see some comp food options in Y, regardless of fare. Your $20,000 spenders are in the back, give them some hummus.
Adding LT07 to SE BPs would be a nice touch
