Why doe Advance Passenger Information ask me for my address in the US?

Not flying to the US - instead flying to the UK

Why doe Advance Passenger Information under "Manage my bookings" ask me for my address in the US and NEXUS PASS ID?

It's confusing. They should turn it off if you are not flying to the US.

They should also get rid of the green on the website design.

Same reason I see it on the APIS page when flying to Asia.

In theory, the form that would appear for a U.S. destination would not have those fields for other destinations. As for changing the APIS form (design, colors), ya, good luck with that.

(funny thing...don't have this problem with the other airlines I fly, either into the U.S. or elsewhere)

Hmmm... could it be that other airlines have a semi-competent IT dept.?

Possibly. Probably. Oh wait, I have screen shots for that.

It asks, but doesn't require the info.

yeah i've always seen it and when going intl. thing is, apis wouldn't require a us address for a non-us destination so i would just ignore it.

but i guess this is flyertalk worthy.

Remember, US APIS is required even if you are overflying the states, i.e. over
Alaska on the way to Asia.

For address, just put " In Transit".

No it is not.

I fly to Asia from YYS which does fly over Alaska and am not asked this at all

Similarly, flights from Toronto to various Caribbean vacation destinations regularly fly over the USA. You certainly don't have to put in a US address for those flights.

AC needs to know where to offload you once you start throwing kettle corn all over the cabin.

I just checked my booking for Barbados out of YYZ. There is no mention of APIS being required. I checked the APIS tab and it says APIS must be filled out only if flying to the US or connecting through the US.

Which is exactly the case.

Not sure where other posters are getting this "If you fly over the USA at any point in the flight" you have to fill it in.

Only when flying to the USA, not simply over the USA as in a transpacific flight heading over part of Alaska, or similar.

A domestic Canadian flight (Calgary to Toronto) flies over US territory. No APIS is required.
