Anyone interested in a Paris DO?

My heart's bleeding for Paris and for all my friends who live there.

With the year end approaching, a good number of us AC flyers may be planning MRs to requalify for status.

Anyone here interested in organizing an AC Paris DO to visit the city as a show of defiance and solidarity? Fly out on a Friday and back on Sunday perhaps?

Thoughts?

A lot of people died tonight and there are talks about a Do? That's a new low.

You should read the first post. The idea is to show solidarity with the
Parisians and flip the bird at the terrorists and their ideology.

This tragedy is literally still unfolding, and yet some feel it is already appropriate to start discussing a DO? I'm challenged to see how this in any way shows "defiance and solidarity" with the victims who, at this point, are not even certain of the scope of their loss.

This is of course a free forum, but I for one feel this is in extremely poor taste.

Too. Soon.

+10000000

Can't make it but fully support the gesture. Wish I could be there.

I'd go on December 12th or 19th.

Can't make Nov 27-29 because there's already another AC Do that weekend

I am quite amazed that peoples' mentalities are "lets make an event out of a tragedy!" ... One that has to unfold fully or be understood.

I question the intelligence and empathy of people in this forum.

Did you bother to read past the thread title?

Indeed I did. And planning mileage runs based on a mass murder does not appeal.
"With the year end approaching, a good number of us AC flyers may be planning MRs to requalify for status."
Not the place or the time.

Interesting bit of selective quoting there. OP's reference to a MR was clearly meant to suggest, hey, if anyone's planning to take a useless trip somewhere to requalify for status, let's consider Paris "as a show of defiance and solidarity".

I, for one, think it's a noble suggestion.

Not interested.

I wouldn't plan a social gathering in ottawa and mention it in the subject line of the invite a few hours after the 2014 shootings in Parliament Hill.

I wouldn't plan a social gathering in New York and mention it in the subject line of the invite a few hours after 9/11.

Just not the right time, regardless of intent. Unless you're planning for the whole flyertalk group to attend the national funeral or day of mourning in the next few days - which I can support. Other than that.... just can't see myself at a bar talking about flying, our hobbies, our passion and things we enjoy under this title when hundreds have died.

This is a time for mourning. Let the dead deserve their rest.

Well, it seems like the thread has been up for what, 4h+?

So the mods must think it's appropriate.

Maybe we are just slightly overreacting? :3
