Bad idea. I'll bet some airlines (cough ... Ryanair ... cough) will be tempted to go 4x4 config instead of 3x3. How would you like to be caught in one of those in an emergency situation?

With seats like that, I don't even see how you'd realistically squish past people to go to the bathroom. And how would a little kid "sit" on a saddle without being held by an adult?

  1. I'd be surprised if that seat would survive FAA mandated crash tests
  2. In order to receive certification, the aircraft manufactuer has to show that in the event of an emergency the entire aircraft can be evacuated within a certain period if time (something like 90 seconds???). I don't see how people (especially those of size) would be able to evacuate the aircraft within the time required.
  3. No working, eating, drinking or AVOD - count me out.

The seats have a tray table and an option for IFE screens (though I believe the screens demo'd were too large for how close one is).

I sat in the demo units at the expo last week and wasn't particularly impressed, though I would prefer this to 29" pitch normal seat.
