Probably US wouldnt serve this purpose very well
Consider hopping on the LH train.

US brings zero (zilch, nada) tier miles.

Domestic Air Canada brings a minimum of 125 miles in eligible booking classes. :-) But that is a far way from SAN.

At SAN, I would think that UA (500 miles min, except O, I, X, R, N, P) offers the shortest solution.

Aka no BP checks/validation on the LH codeshared Deutsche Bahn operated train to Frankfurt, accruing full mileage without being half a world away. Just make sure to OLCI on time!

Easy 250 miles in Q class to A3.

Using the train is fine if one were crediting to LH M&M, but the op is interested in Aegean, so will get zero from the train!

Why wouldn't it work? It has a LH flight number and fare class that should earn 250 miles domestically..

It's the operating airline (the metal) that counts, not the marketing carrier.
Just like trying to credit an SQ Codeshare on SilkAir - A3 won't credit the miles as transport wasn't on an A3 partner or StarAlliance Airline.

You are wrong here, please stop spreading false information. (Or give a first hand experience of a case that refutes my statement)
LH train counts as *A flight.

Thanks - that's good to know. I'm surprised it works for M&B (not surprised it works for M&M).

I'll bear that this in mind in future.

The only place you can't credit the miles to is M&M, as per the miles box with the x above. Crediting to any other *A FFP will earn miles as per the earnings chart! You will be fine booking this!
