March OMNI Award Nomination

Rudi and Catman, I'm going to jump the gun (that's an American idiom, Rudi, relating to jumping before the starter's gun at a race is fired) on OMNI nominations, and recommend Fukuchan for the March OMNI. He has been personally responsible for 19,000 miles for me with the MCI bonus, and 25,000 miles for countless others. To paraphrase Churchill, "Never has one person done so much for so many in so little time." (Or something like that. Bravo to fukuchan. And anyone who hasn't already read the thread should do so and pick up a quick free ticket--25,000 miles.

I absolutely agree, Fukuchan is responsible for many of us getting 25,000 miles. My nomination is for Fukuchan as well.

I hope Djlawman and Co. find their own/personal way to express their gratitude to fukuchan for his great tips.

The "OMNI" award is COPYRIGHTED and the founders (committee: CatMan & Rudi) agreed in August and September 98 (at the Pierre in New York and at Smith&Wollensky - after to many sidecars) NOT to democratize (open) the evaluation process.

Till now, as the title "OMNI" says, the award was given to contributors of this board "outside" the "normal mileage/ff-program question/answer/tips-discussion", it was for "outstanding OMNI-contributions". There was one exception: the first award (after emmet_s & Co. declined to give their postal address to the committee) went to the hosts of FlyerTalk to give us this platform.

I agree with Rudi. The tradition is that they select, we complain about their selection, but they do not change it. Let the tradition continue!!

I have to agree with Rudi on this one. Selecting OMNI is a more difficult process than picking five decent actresses for best actress (WHY hasn't our MEG WON AN OSCAR??

But the process needs to be kept small and secret. We are both very good judges and I think have been on the money with our selections!!!

If anyone has any critiques of the choices please e-mail me. I am also the "comment processer" of the OMNI committee.

I'll second the motion to nominate Fukuchan! Until this past six months, I was content to keep our phone lines with MCI. Now, with all the crazy mileage giveaways, I have switched so many times that I don't give a hoot who I have for long distance!

Anyway, I have earned 50,000 DL miles thanks to Fukuchan. 25k for me and another 25k for my wife. Of course, I'm going to transfer the 50k to Hilton since we don't fly DL and thank MCI for our free hotel stays!

Rudi & Catman -- In the car, this is called Driver's Democracy; (s)he who drives gets to pick the radio station.
