Arranging group travel for a wedding

Since I'm a little savvier on airline business than my friend, I'm helping him arrange discount travel with the airlines for his wedding in April. Any suggestions or ideas or things I should know to make this work well? Thanks.

Is your question relating to the bride/groom and the honeymoon or to lots of people from many different places?

I do know that Continental offers some sort of discount for events. They issue you with a special code that you give to people attending the wedding, to make their reservations.

I think you need at least 10 people flying using the code in order to get a discount. I think the departement is called "Meeting Works". I am not sure about disounts for the bride and groom

It's been awhile, but I do recall seeing some where, that AA will give the bride and groom first class seats one way, if traveling with a group of 10 or more. (In addition to group discount.)

Talk to the most logical airlines' group desk. They will usually give an add'l 5% off discount fares/40% off unrestricted for travel around the days, plus a free ticket for later use based on # of tickets booked. I have done this for business meetings and it works very easily.

When the bride and groom take their honeymoon, be sure that someone tells the airline that the trip is a honeymoon. According to my travel agent friend, most airlines will try to upgrade them, but I know that UA will definately give them a bottle of sparkling wine...

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I'd like to arrange discounts for multiple origins, but one particular origin could have as many as 20 people. Thanks also for the insight on the honeymoon couple. I wish I had mentioned that to AA six years ago. In fact, it was only last month I lost my "First Class virginity" when I voluntarily bumped myself on a full flight.

All airlines have meetings fares. Call any central rez # and they'll connect you. Jamiel's discounts are correct.

Note to Matt -- not to dig up old bones but raeban and I paid full fare first class on UA, they knew we were on our honeymoon and we not only didn't get sparkling wine, we were offered "happy meals" when they ran out of FC meals by row 5... grrrrrr (for the 1000th time)... :{
