5,000 miles - no fee Visa card

Sorry everone !! I called Priority Club again and they said the 10,000 points did equal only 2,500 flyer points. The first time I called they said the 10,000 pts would transfer to an airline. They didn't say the 10,000 points turn into 2,500. BOO! HISS!!
Priority Club (Holiday Inn) is offering 5,000 bonus points upon first purchase. The card is free and they have 20 airline partners.

888-844-VISA -- Need no code. Open to anyone.

The catch -and there always seems to be one-is you must have 10,000 pts in your account in order to transfer them to an airline with credit card use.

So the bottom line is 5,000 free and use the card for $5,000 more ($1.00 = 1 pt) before you can transfer the points to an airline.

You do not have to be a Priority Club member, it is automatic with your application.

4.9% for 6 months. Balance Transfers DO Not count for miles.

Priority Club is associated with Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, and Staybridge Hotels. Membership free and pts. for hotel stays.

If I remember right, these points do not transfer one for one to miles. Is that right? I remember there was a reason I decided not to go for this card.

Sorry but the conversion rate is 10,000 pts to 2,500 miles. So 5,000 pts equals 1,250 miles not 5,000 miles.

I signed up when Priority Club visa was introduced. It offered 7,500 pts for signing up which is good for a free night stay at HI Express. I cancelled the card after I got the bonus; it's not an attractive affinity card.

Anyway, for the trouble, I used the pts for a free night stay in LA.

Dan.

Yes - you are absolutely right. Every Priority Club point is equal to 1/4 of a airline mile. So, 10,000 points equals 2,500 miles.

I don't understand why everyone is so surprised that the HI points don't transfer one-for-one to airline FF programs. Hilton and Marriott points don't transfer one-for-one either.

If you are only looking for miles, I agree there are a number of better alternatives. But the HI VISA card is excellent to earn points for free stays at HI. For one thing, there is no annual fee. You also get the bonus points for signing up. And it's a VISA card, so I can (and do) use it when AMEX is not an option. Can someone identify a better fee-free VISA/Mastercard that permits accumulation of FF points/miles?

MileKing - Yes, those hotel programs don't transfer 1 to 1, but Starwood Properities Prefered Guest program (Sheraton, Westin, Four Points, Caesars) does. It states, "As a Starwood Preferred Guest, you benefit from an exchange rate of 1 Starpoint to 1 airline mile on most major airline carriers."

see: http://www.preferredguest.com/nl/awards/awards.html

In addition, you can get an American Express Sheraton StarPoints credit card with NO annual fee. It earns 1 point for every dollar charged (which in turn, equals one mile on most major airlines). You also get 1,000 bonus points for signing up and 4 starpoints for every dollar charged at a starwood property, PLUS free Gold Preferred Guest membership for one year.
