Internet Site To Book Y
I primarily use Expedia, Travelocity, or the airlines own websites to book my tickets (that is when my company dosen't keep reminding me to use their own travel agency). Do any of you know which internet sites I can use to either check the prices and/or book tickets in Y (or full coach fare)? There's times where I'm just curious as to the Y fare or I might be using upgrades which require a Y booking. All the sites I've used will just give me the lowest fare in coach which mostly is not Y. Thanks and take care all.

On Travelocity go to the flight search page (not the one on the main page, click on flights) and after you put in the dates choose the button for Economy class without restrictions (in option 4). Most other sites offer a similiar question somewhere in their information form before you do the search.

Thanks for the quick reply I noticed that feature before. Will that guarantee a Y fare? I talked to some phone agents before that said an "Economy coach ticket without restrictions" does not necessarily mean Y as there are more than one type of "Economy coach without restrictions". Thanks for the quick answer anyhow. Take care.

ChinaShark, you are right that coach fares without restriction do not automatically imply Y. You get pretty close. On travelocity, among the remaining fares, choose the ones that seem HIGHEST and you get Y fares. My understanding is that Y is usually the highest coach with discounts for advanced-purchase BUT refundable fares, corporate discounts, etc. There are exceptions to every rule (sometimes, you may get higher fare than Y because of routing and extra fee associated with it, etc.) but the highest flexible fare rule usually works.
As Doc suggested above, once you select the flts on Travelocity, it shows you fare codes.
