Europe by Air Flightpass Unlimited gives 15 or 21 days unlimited travel for $699 or $899+tax. I wonder is it possible to use that Airpass for mileage earning / status building?

Swissair, Sabena, Crossair, Portugalia, Air One and TAP Air Portugal are Europe by Air partners and Qualiflyer (status) members.
Spanair, Estonian Air and Icelandair (according to EuropebyAir parters list) participate in Europe by Air pass and are SAS Eurobonus (non-status) members.
VLM airlines has their one bonus points program.
Yes, I know that this pass is available only for non-Europeans, but still...

I do not know, but a few years back some of the US Airlines operated these schemes... DL & NW in particular.

The NW pass allowed travel on intra California/Nevada on USAir and also on Horizon Air systemwide.

Officially no mileage was permitted, but unofficially I earned an awful lot of miles...

I would assume that the same sort of rules will apply.

I checked out the website and could not located the fine print on this pass for mileage accrual. I assume that with the difficulty already involved in trying to get partners to credit miles (Lord knows I tried unsuccessfully with Virgin Atlantic and BA transatlantic crossings to get miles), you will not get miles. It would not hurt to present your mileage card at check-in and if you are an elite level, by all means check in through first to avoid lines. Just because the pass is discounted and you don't earn miles means service is discounted too.

Lastly, I was a traveler on the Delta Standby pass during the summers of 93 and 94. For about $500 you could fly unlimited standby all over the 48 contigious US. Anybody know whatever happened to them or is there another carrier that offers this?

There is a very good one I am using this month for South America - MERCOSUR. Same sort of deal - flat $US price for up to 1000 miles etc, on many carriers, 2000 miles is more etc.

The Airpasses offered in the US by NW were superior to the Delta pass because while the prices were the same, for the basic pass, NW offered addons

$200 r/t to Honolulu or Alaska. I never did get to Alaska, but I did get to HNL frequently...

In addition to travel on NW you were also able to fly USAir/USAir Express on any intra CA/NV routes AND Horizon in The Pacific NW.

They were great passes.

BTW Horizon offered their own pass to Brits after NW did away with their pass, which was valid only on Horizon or Alaska flights from SFO& LAX to SEA or PDX. No other AS flight were permissible.

Horizon did away with this pass at the end of 1999 !

I am checking the prices for the Mercosur Air Pass and there is one thing that I dont understand. It just say 7201 miles and more is 870$. Does this mean there is no max of how many miles you could fly for 870$? I know that you cant make more then 8 stopover and stay away for more then 30 days, but in 30 days you can travel alot. Varig is partner of the * so this might actually be another bath run or?
