Best way to open CO account

I need to open a CO account to transfer my AMEX rewards points through Amtrak to UA. I know some airlines often run promotions where they give some bonus miles for opening a miles account with them. Are there any current promotions like that for CO right now? Can one open a miles account with Continental and get some bonus miles?

Welcome to FlyerTalk!

Unfortunately there aren't any sign-up bonuses for joining OnePass and haven't seen any for a few years now.

Keep in mind with the Continental to Amtrak to United promotion, you are maxed to sending 25,000 OnePass miles to Amtrak per calendar year and they must be done in 5,000 mile increments.

Periodically AMEX and CO run a promotion where you can get a 25% (or is it 20%?) bonus for transferring from AMEX to CO. If you have time, you may want to save a few AMEX points and wait for that promotion.

Thank you for your reply. I didn't know about the 5,000 miles increment condition. By the way, did Amtrak, Continental, or UA already announce when they will end this point transfer promotion?

Shhh, at the current rate I still have only another 48 years before I can liquidate my useless OnePass miles through Amtrakc!

Really? How often do they do it? When was the last time they ran a promotion like that?

Hi Sprogis and welcome to FlyerTalk!

Since this is directly related to CO's OnePass program, I'm going to move it there.
