American: under 2 years = 90%, 2 to 11 years = 50%, min. age for unaccomanied child: direct flight: 5 years, connecting: 8 years, assistance fee $30.
Continental: under 2 years = 90% rebate, 2 to 11 years = 50%, min. age for unaccomanied child: direct flight: 5 years, connecting: 8 years, assistance fee free

Rudi - you missed a key point, elgibility for freguent flyer programs. From the US the infant fare (under 2 not occupying a seat is 10%) is not. The childs fare (2-11 at 75%, gets a seat) is. My 6 year old already has gotten several award tickets. As a side note British Airways permits a pooling of FF miles under the adults account
