23:59 minute stop question

At the intermediate airport where you take the 23:59 stop you are considered a connecting passenger rather than an originating passenger, right?

I think it depends for what purpose - ie. YVR AIF would likely make you pay even though AC considers you a connecting pax.

Does it matter? I thought the YYZ AIF hits you even if you're connecting. Or is it a matter of how many times it hits you?

There is a $3.00 difference the originating AIF($10.00) vs the connecting AIF($7.00)

Provided your fare is ticketed as a through fare with YYZ listed as a connecting point and not a fare break point, then yes, you should pay only the $7 AIF. If the fare breaks at YYZ, regardless of the duration of stopover, then you will pay the $10 AIF.

YVR will most often refuse you connecting status if your arriving flight shows the day before the day of departure. One must be preapred to argue, and in most cases you will lose. I am sure Epress has managed to convince them otherwise, but I never have.

It may be tilting at Windmills but it is the principle of it. I don't mind paying the user however I do mind overpaying.

But YVR allows you to avoid the AIF if you are doing a same day out-and-back to Vancouver. So it evens out in the end.

Well I finally have "the answer." It appears any transit longer than four hours will be charged the $10.00 AIF as opposed to the $7.00 AIF.

I looked on the GTAA website and could not find anything but "connecting" language. I wonder where the 4 hours comes from.

From the GTAA itself. I talked to them and they gave a more detailed answer.

Unlike international connections, which allow 24 hours, the standard domestic connection time is 4 hours. This applies to both Canada and the US.

Mexico, Caribbean, Bahamas, and Bermuda, and Hawaii, allow for a 4 hr, or 24 hr, connection time?
