747-400 to KIX

I will be on a 747-400 flight from YVR to KIX. I know that the exit row seats in the upstairs are the best but they won't give it to me until the date of departure. So what's the second best? Are upstairs seats more spacious in terms of the seat pitch? If it is the same, I prefer downstairs because of its higher ceiling.

By the way, what happened to the UA forum?

Thanks

I wonder whether they only assign row 58 to E/SE as I've never had problems getting it. The seat pitch is the same both upstairs and downstairs. If you prefer downstairs, I would go for 4DF which is the centre set of J seats with tons of legroom.

Thank you Empress for the infor. I called AC again and tried to request the exit row seats and this agent took care of it without any qualms. So now I will be sitting in 58J. yehhhh.
