Upgraded on UA, J credit on AP?
I brought this question up last week and @home is too slow now to do a search so I'll start a new thread.
I emailed the SE desk last night asking them this question and got a voicemail response this morning. (Talk about fast!)
They said I will defintely receive F or J COS bonus if I fly UA and upgraded myself using UA systemwides or any other form of certificates or miles. He reminded me that Aeroplan is one of the few programs that allow this.
He said that the system should automatically generate the COS bonus and if that doesn't happen, mailing or faxing in the BP would be sufficient to fix it up.
So looks like this is an added bonus for flying UA if one manages to find a way to upgrade!

That hasn't been my experience, I'm afraid
. Whenever I upgrade on UA and credit the flight to AC, I just get the regular miles. I have done so many times. I believe the booking classes NC/NF do not evoke the COS bonus.
Now, the odd time that I have flown on a revenue C/F ticket on UA and credited the flight to AC, I have received the COS bonus, and the bonus counted as Q miles on AC (whereas on UA, the bonus does not count as Q miles).

I have always gotten the class of service bonus on such upgraded travel on UA in my Aeroplan account, and in my Cdn+ account when I flew AA. Also received class of service bonus on my upgraded CP flights when they were credited to my AAdvantage account.
