Ft. Lauderdale Hotel

Can someone please help me find a hotel in the Fort Lauderdale area. I have never been there and the photos most hotels show on their websites are deceiving.

Myself and a companion are going to a convention and I want to stay somewhere that is classy, but not to extravagent. Near the airport would be a plus. I would like to spend less than $150 per night if possible. Any suggestions.

I'm not sure there are any upscale hotels near the Fort Lauderdale airport. The nicer hotels are located on or near the beach.

You may want to consider bidding on a hotel through Priceline.com. I've had TONS of success in numerous cities bidding on 4 star hotels through Priceline.com and Expedia's similar Hotel Price Matcher. Many times I've saved over $100/night when the lowest published rate was $250+.

I just checked Priceline.com's website and they offer 4 star hotels in the Fort Lauderdale Beach zone (only 1 and 2 star levels in the airport zone).

If it's worth considering to you, feel free to ask any questions about bidding at the Yahoo Club I set up for that purpose. <http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/pricelinedeals>

You may want to check various hotel websites to see what the lowest available rate is for your travel dates and then post that information (dates and rates) at the Yahoo Club and I'll be happy to suggest a bid amount.

I've stayed at the Westin Fort Lauderdale before, booked through Priceline. Very nice hotel. It is a four star hotel in the Priceline.com system. I believe my bid was around $75.

I was just at the Sheraton Yankee Trader in Fort Lauderdale. Right across from a great beach, also has a Shula's on-site. The hotel was a little worn, but for $100 it was worth the price.

I've found the Sheraton FLL Airport to be a very nice hotel. Upscale is a matter of personal taste, so I refrain from using that term.

I stayed at the airport Hilton recently and was quite impressed. Nice pool with a bar. Generous size room. All for about $120.
