Suggestions for best way to maximize Asia miles
My wife and I are planning our second trip to SE Asia this spring. We got married in Bali last spring and honeymooned in Thailand.
We don't have a specific location in mind, but narrowed our choices down to Thailand, Bali, Laos and Vietnam.
We would like to buy a ticket that isn't too expensive, but allows us to earn full AA miles.
Last year I found a good fare on AA to Bangkok using AA to NRT and then JAL codeshare to BKK. We bought a cheap ticket from there to Bali.
Cathay doesn't allow mileage earning on it's Asia Pass tickets.
Are there any other similar tickets that allow mileage earning, or does anyone have a suggestions as far as buying tickets within tickets to maximize miles and minimize cost?

Forgot to mention that I noticed an inter-asia pass last time around. The only problem was it required a inbound flight on Star Alliance.
Are there any similar passes that do not require a Star Alliance inbound?

JAL has Super Sale Fares going to Asia (Vietnam is listed), which you can earn AAdvantage miles on.
If you want to go to Saigon:
