Biggest hassles you've ever experienced with a bonus mile promotion

Inspired by Delta/AmEx double & triple miles promos. I'm sure many others will have a better list than mine - different rankings plus other promotions that date back to earlier years, long before the ones I've experienced - so I figured maybe they could post their experiences here.

1. Delta SkyMiles American Express triple miles promotion of October, 2002

2. Meetingsplanning.net survey (contest ) miles

3. American Express card kiosk check-in bonus from fall, 2002

4. Delta SkyMiles American Express double miles for purchases May 15-June 15, 2003 *

*No. 4 is ongoing, no miles yet, but delays are not yet substantial so that's why it's No. 4. I suppose it could be bumped up if weekly delays turn into monthly delays)

Based on posts from others, I sure someone is going to say LatinPass.

OK, I'll say it. LatinPass. (But in retrospect, given what we have been able to get for our 1,000,000 miles --can you say ENVOY--I won't even complain about it.) Even that hassle was worth it to get the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Any with NW, you name it, they all required too much monitoring, submitting dupicates and phone calls or e-mails.

Also, UA's Great Offer fax of the 3 competitor's stmts. Have faxed 3 times, have called, have e-mailed, called again, wrote a letter. Still nada.

The AA 20/20 promotion was a big hassle trying to find out what and who constituted separate partners.

I have to agree that Latinpass was the most difficult, but, all in all, the pain per mile factor was much lower than getting freaking ATT to post their 5,000 cell phone bonus. I felt some pity for LP, not so for ATT.

A couple FT regulars might mention Goldpoints/Valumags.

My vote goes to Sprint/NWA long distance promo. A few years back, 25000 miles.

Sprint messed up big time. It took a complaint to FCC to get it sorted...

But then, all's well that ends well. :P

1) Anything Amex, definitely.

2) BA's Visa double miles promo from 2002

3) Sprint's promos (after NW, before, when they were with NW, it was good, with UA, not so good)

NW 25K miles for WorldPerks Visa Card

5K when you get the card
5K after you spend $500 with the card on NW flights
15K after keeping the card for 15 months

2nd 5K took several call and months after the spending. 15K has not been awarded after 18 months and several phone calls.

I've got to vote for ValueMags, both because of the need to fax everything in and because of the many twists and turns as Goldpoints tried to squirm out of the trap it created for itself. Then they wrapped up this particular trophy with their no-notice 50% devaluation...
